In August of 2014 Penn State Hershey School of Medicine reached out to us to put together some videos for a new research project they are participating in. This research project brought together world-class medical and research institutions to share patient data with the ultimate goal of reducing the time it takes to answer research questions and center those research questions on what is important to the patients. In addition to Penn State Hershey, the other institutions are Temple University, The University of Pittsburgh and Johns Hopkins University. Together they form the PaTH Network, the Mid-Atlantic group of a national research group.
We were honored that they chose us to produce the videos for them and began pre-production immediately. Beginning that September, Ryan and Gary traveled to each of the locations over the next 7 months conducting 20 interviews, shooting b-roll and still photography and working closely with Jody McCullough and Ellie Hogentogler from Penn State Hershey. With this much footage and this many locations and interviews, it was crucial to plan properly and stay organized.
Jody, the PaTH Project Manager, had these very kind words to say, “Being a relative newbie to the video world, Ryan really embraced me and my colleagues’ as part of the Hayman team! From pre-production planning, too selecting visually pleasing shot locations, Hayman Studio created a genuinely collaborative experience.
Our project required a team of people traveling through two states, conducting twenty interviews, and reviewing countless hours of footage. Tackling this unique research project was quite an undertaking that Ryan and Gary made seem effortless.
I along with the entire PaTH Network, are exceptionally pleased how the research story came together – it’s reaching our audience in a new and meaningful way!”
This work led to the creation of 6 separate videos. Here is the first one, an introduction to the PaTH Network. The others will be released to the public in the near future.
Many, many thanks go to Ellie and Jody for making our jobs much easier and much, much more enjoyable.
