We’re getting very close to Christmas now and only have one more recipe after today. Enjoy the dessert!
Spiced Sour Cherry Pie
Your favorite double pie crust
4 cups sour cherries, pitted
1 cup granulated sugar
5 tsp. tapioca flour
1 Tbls. Lemon juice
½ tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. cloves
Egg wash (1 egg, beaten lightly combined with 1 Tbls. Water)
Granulated sugar
Prepare pie crust and place in pie dish. Set aside top crust.
In large saucepan, combine cherries, sugar, tapioca flour, lemon juice and spices.
Heat over medium heat stirring often until mixture becomes soupy then stir constantly until mixture boils and thickens. Remove from heat.
Pour into prepared pie crust.
Top pie with crust in desired design and trim edges of crust.
Brush crust with egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Bake at 425˚ until filling is bubbly and top crust is browned, about 40 minutes.
