Change is hard.
We’ve seen a lot of it at Hayman Studio over the past 70+ years. We’ve watched black-and-white film change to color. We’ve seen tungsten lighting change to strobe lighting, and strobe change to LED. Our culture is built on a sturdy foundation of looking forward and taking – and making – changes head-on.
Jim Hayman Jr. purchased the Studio in North York in 1965. We’ve called this building our home for the past 60 years. During our second generation in 1983, we built a 6-darkroom lab, and we were York’s only commercial studio to develop film in-house. You could shoot here all morning and then review your films after lunch – an incredibly rare experience in our modest town. You’d have to travel to NYC or Philly for that kind of service.
Then we made the massive transition from film to digital. After 20 years of operations, we closed, remodeled, and reimagined the lab into our current digital lab. Our lab of enlargers, film developing machines, drying machines, and black and white and color print machines were phased out. In their place now stands a 100+ TB server, meters of network cables, giant monitors, and fast computers running high-end software.
We were here when stock photography and graphics emerged, and we’re here now as AI transforms the creative landscape yet again. And as our industry changes, we see the needs of our clients constantly changing, too.
Some things do remain the same: Our tireless agility and proactivity. Our dedication to the evolution of technology. Our laser-focus on the needs of our clients. And above all, an uncompromising commitment to quality.
And when it comes to quality creativity, we know the best ideas emerge when people are comfortable and having fun. So while we definitely mean business when it comes to cutting-edge technology and serving our clients’ needs, we also prioritize experience. The studio is a genuinely fun place to come for a shoot or production meeting. You’ll always find smart, friendly people to visit with and a great playlist in the background.
We’ve been so busy the past decade spending all our time and attention on our amazing clients that we forgot to be creative for ourselves. For the past several months, though, we’ve spent some of that fun creative energy rebranding ourselves. I’m very excited to showcase our reimagined brand for Hayman Studio. The story of what we do here and how we talk about it now aligns with the work we’ve been doing for close to a decade.
We’ve always been makers, creatives, craftsmen… all of those monikers work. We’ve been busy creating and growing. We are an evolving, expert team of animators, video editors, videographers and photographers, writers, developers, and amazing designers who allow us to deliver complete creative solutions to our clients.
Looking for a different type of creative partner and experience, one with transparency, responsiveness, great communication, and awesome design? Then you’ve come to the right place. You can relax now. Welcome to Hayman Creative Studio.
